Description

NORD-LOCK® 8 SS washers serve as a special locking element for M8 bolt connections. They are made of stainless chromium-nickel steel 1.4404 with a hardness of 520 HV and are not suitable for applications involving contact with chlorides and acids.

They operate on the principle of a wedge-locking system, which prevents the bolted joint from self-loosening even when subjected to vibrations or dynamic loads. The washers are supplied in pairs and have radial ribbing on the contact surfaces, so that when tightening, the washer teeth imprint into the mating surfaces. Since the wedge angle of the washers is greater than the thread pitch of the bolt, a wedge-locking effect occurs, securing the joint.
