Custom production of flat drive belts
Not sure which flat belt is best suited for your operation? Provide us with the basic drive parameters, and in cooperation with the manufacturer and based on our years of experience, we will design and manufacture a custom drive belt to meet your operational requirements. We deliver starting from a single piece across the entire Czech and Slovak Republics.
Use of flat belts
Flat belts have been used for many years to transmit torque from the drive unit to driven machine parts and are among one of the oldest and most widespread solutions. Currently, although these applications have been partially replaced by V-belt or timing belt drives, flat drive belts continue to find their applications in a wide variety of engineering fields. Due to the relatively wide variability of belt material compositions, dimensional combinations, and methods of use, these belts are almost exclusively ordered as custom-made products.
Selecting a suitable belt
When selecting the suitable drive belt for each specific application, several basic parameters of the drive and operating conditions are evaluated. These then practically unambiguously determine the belt type both in terms of materials used and its construction for trouble-free power transmission. Modern flat drive belts consist mainly of a combination of elastomers, rubber, textile components, and leather. Their inherent elasticity is minimal; therefore, establishing working tension is expected by adjusting the distance between pulleys (most common method) or using a tensioning pulley.
Quiet operation
Low vibration
High efficiency
Applications of flat drive belts
A wide variety of machinery equipment and drives where low strain energy losses, brief slip capacity, quiet operation, and low vibration are required. Can also be used for high pulley speeds, or high belt linear speeds and relatively small pulley diameters.
- power hammers
- crushers
- gang saws

- cutters
- rolling mills
- lathes
- grinding machines
- planing machines
- machinery in the textile industry
- hydroelectric power plants
- roller conveyor drives
- combine harvesters
- fatliquoring machines, etc.
Construction of flat drive belts:
As standard, belts are manufactured from flat materials (sheets), from which the required size of the future belt is cut (width x length) and subsequently joined into a closed shape. Some types (especially high-speed, low-profile belts) are also produced as a seamless closed sleeve of various lengths, from which only the corresponding belt width is cut. If the belt cannot be mounted on the machine other than open-ended, an unjoined variant can also be produced, where the belt is prepared for joining and the actual bonding is performed after assembly on the machine. For some belt types, there is also an option with a mechanical joint.
Belt layers
A flat belt consists of several material layers. The basic layer is the tensile carcass made of PAD or PES fibers, which determines the overall tensile strength of the belt. The individual top layers applied to the carcass characterize further belt properties, such as friction coefficient, thickness, hardness, temperature resistance, oil resistance, and antistatic properties. Taking into account the operating load and working environment, the optimal material is selected for the production of the respective drive belt.
Selection of a suitable flat belt from a professional
If you do not know the exact structural composition of the belt you need for your drive, do not waste effort and do not try to determine the material yourself without experience. Tell us the basic parameters of the drive, and in cooperation with the manufacturer and based on our long-term experience, we can design the right belt for you.
To determine the suitable belt type, we need to know:
- required belt dimension – length x width (mm)
- amount of power transmitted – usually electric motor power (kW)
- drive pulley speed – usually electric motor rating plate value (1/min)
- drive pulley diameter (mm)
- driven pulley diameter (mm)
Mass-produced belts on the e-shop
A significant part of the flat belt segment also consists of the sale of mass-produced seal types. You can buy flat belts on our e-shop and have them delivered directly to your address; we usually deliver goods within 48 hours at the latest. You can also pick up the goods at one of our stores in HavlĂÄŤkĹŻv Brod, Jihlava, or Brno. You can also just reserve the goods on the e-shop for personal pickup at a store. Each store has technically trained staff who will be happy to help you select seals.
